CHAPTER 1 MAN AND ENERGY The human body is a network of different forms of energy. It is this system of energy that sustains the physical body. Each living cell in the body emits electro-magnetic radiation. Each cell also has a positive and negative charge. Generally, the outside of a cell has a positive charge and the inside of a cell has a negative charge. But these charges may be momentarily reversed based on the action of "ion pumps" on the cell membrane that drive sodium ions out of the cell and pumps potassium ions into the cell (an ion is an atom or group of atoms that carries an electrical charge) It is this movement of electrically charged ions at the cellular levels that forms the basic building blocks in the complex electro-magnetic workings of the body's energies.
